Baby rabbits set free

BOWIE, Myrtle Ave., 8600 block, June 30. Someone reported holding an injured baby rabbit and three healthy baby rabbits in a box. An animal control officer picked up the babies and, after deeming them healthy and old enough to be on their own, returned them to the wild.

Presa Canario gives chase

UPPER MARLBORO, Crain Hwy., 7700 block, July 2. A woman reported that she and her dog had been chased by a stray dog running loose. An officer picked up a 2-year-old brindle male Presa Canario and took it to the animal services facility. The dog’s owner claimed him that day.

Raccoons roam the halls

HYATTSVILLE, 85th Ave., 5300 block, July 1. Someone reported seeing two raccoons in a building’s second-floor hallway. The caller left the door open, but the animals would not leave. An animal control officer returned the healthy raccoons to the wild.

Poodle hitches a ride

BRENTWOOD, Rhode Island Ave., 3900 block, July 2. A woman reported that she was dropping off a white poodle at an animal hospital after the dog had jumped into her car when she stopped to check him out. An animal control officer picked up the 3-year-old white male miniature poodle with a blue nylon collar and tags. The tags listed the number of a former owner, who said she could not keep the dog in her apartment. The dog was taken to a rescue group.

Apricot toy poodle goes astray

BOWIE, Milburn Lane, 12600 block, July 3. An animal control officer picked up a stray, 3-year-old, apricot-colored female toy poodle found in a back yard. The dog’s owners claimed her July 6.

Bowie pet adoption event

The Prince George’s County SPCA/Humane Society is sponsoring cat and dog adoptions, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart, 4500 Mitchellville Rd., Bowie. The pets’ foster owners will answer questions and accept adoption applications for the animals. Adoption fees are for cats and 0 for dogs.
