Colton Tooley UT Shooting 2010 – A gunman ran through the campus at the University of Texas Austin Campus, opening fire randomly in the direction of people that were running away from him. He was unable to hit anyone with any shots, and then holed himself up in a library building for a while before killing himself.
It is not clear what the motivation behind the attack might have been. Officials said that they were thankful that no one besides the gunman was hurt in the incident. As soon as the shooting started, the school sent out a text message to all of the students and faculty, warning them to stay away from the library where the suspect was holed up, and also to remain indoors until it was deemed safe to go outside. After it was determined that the gunman had killed himself, the school put a message on their website stating that the school was closed and that all classes were cancelled for the day.

The student, who was identified as Colton Tooley had run through the campus wearing a ski mask and brandishing a loaded AK-47, which he fired in the direction of people who came across him. Luckily, he was not able to hit anyone during the incident.
One witness said that students heard bursts of gunfire and were walking around the campus confused, and in awe. It will be interesting to see what the motivation behind the attack was.
